Week Four and Five

Hey everyone!

Well, A LOT of GREAT things have happened in these last two weeks:

  • The big relationship retreat was July 2&3 which was awesome! We yarped for 26 Kazakhs to come, and 19 came. At this retreat the g was shared to everyone so many times! Not all the ITP went, so the remaining ITP stayed and yarped for the ones who went, and we saw many answered! So on that note, we have two big praises! Karina- a girl who plays on the American football team here (one of two)-confessed to being a believer during that time. And four days later her best friend, Leia-the other girl on the football team- became a believer as a result!! We don’t feel privileged to see the fruit of our labor, but it is so awesome when we do! Oh, and the person that directly shared with Leia was Jondos—the guy who professed to becoming a believer a few weeks ago…how cool is that?! Please be thinking for MakPal, she confesses to believe the truth, but says that because she’s Kazakh, she cannot become a believer.
  • Last week, our team took the traditional trip to the banya--Russian bath-house. A lot of us got some much needed massages!! Ask for stories!!
  • These past three days we have been teaching English to 900 of the incoming freshman to KIMEP. It has been exhausting…but great, such a great time to meet new students. They are so interesting in hearing about our lives.
  • We all celebrated the Fourth of July at the Horsley’s (an m family) this past Monday and ate some really good food! It’s kind of neat celebrating our country’s independence in a different country.
  • We are yarping/thinking for y’all as we heard about Hurricane Dennis. We yarp for your safety. Please be thinking for the summer beach project in panama city beach, florida---the entire project had to evacuate. Please yarp that the project will be able to continue after the hurricane.
  • We only have seven days left remaining with students. Please think/yarp that we will make the most of every opportunity, and that Dad will open up doors to share the g with them.
  • Last Friday, we had a banquet for several students at KIMEP and a discotecque (dance) afterwards…this was a HUGE success. We are so thankful to Dad because of the many relationships we have built with the students here in Almaty.
  • Yesterday, we all went to Kapchagai, which is sort of like a beach here. I think it is man-made, we aren’t quite sure. Anyway, we all had so much fun, and we have the sunburns to prove it. We also brought about 60 or so students with us. One student--the girlfriend of a guy we have been spending time with (Chingus—he is very hungry and curious, but he thinks we are a cult)—Saltanat, became a believer and was led to J by one of our believer translators. How cool is that?
  • AND Leia, the new believer, came to fellowship with us this morning. Yep—Dad is at work here and we are glad to be a part!!

That’s it for now….those are the highlights...I will try to write more later!!! We love and miss you all.
