Week 2
Well, here is what has been going on here in Almaty last week:
--We went to a World Cup qualifying match: KZ against Turkey…it was SO fun, except for the fact that KZ lost 0-6!
--We went to Medeo—which is where we climbed 875 stairs, in the rain! Haha. Everyone got plenty of exercise and fun.
--Four students-Jarod, Tyler, Holly, Tammi M., and myself (Leah)-were invited to go to a debate club weekend with KIMEP. The weekend was great! We got to build relationships with many new students that we would never have met before. The story was shared with a few students there too.
--Last week was really our first official week on our official schedule—which is really great! We go to campus Monday and Tuesday, rest on Wednesday, go to campus on Thursday and Friday, and rest on Sunday.
--Tomorrow is Food Fest, where we bake American food for the Kazakhs and they bake Kazakh food for us.
--This weekend the guys are going camping in the Mountains with the students, a group of girls are having a slumber party, and another group of girls will be going to the mountains as well.
--Some of our guys are moviestars. Not really. KIMEP filmed an intramural video and they asked our guys to play basketball with the students….but our guys had to play horrible so the Kazakhs would look good. What a sacrifice….
--So far, the story has been shared with about twenty five students. It’s great seeing what Dad is doing with our amazing team, with so many gifts and talents.
I hope you all are doing well & we are thinking of you often.
